Greetings Customers;
Well not only is it hot outside, but we have some hot new things in the shop.I will also list all the up-coming classes.
I hope everyone is having fun with the garden. Mine is not faring well because of the heat.I have lost most of my plants and wondering if I should try again. The heat tells me no, but my empty shelves say I should. I know the heat has affected us all. The energy is just not there. I have had more time to look for some fun toys to make canning easier. I love to find new items to speed things up and make less of a mess. I don't think I can ever have enough room in my kitchen.I will list some of the new items from Norpro. Also check out the website for more information.
Meat grinder/mincer/pasta maker-the uses are amazing!
Grip Ez Meat hammer
Vegetable Steamer-will fit in most pots to aid in steaming veggies for canning and freezing.
Corn cutter- I tried this one, and it's great! It took me a few tries to figure it out, but it cuts down on corn splatter for sure.
5 piece garnish set-Make beautiful vegetable trays for any party or gathering.
Bottle pourers for wine-Just like the ones you see at all wineries.
Grip Ez cork screw
4 in 1 opener-Lots of uses for this tool!
Jelly strainer stand and bags
Grip Ez tenderizer
From the mix department I will be getting in new items the first week in August.
Pickled beet mix
Horseradish sauce
Chipotle & Garlic Salsa Mix
Come get all your canning needs. We still have a lot of jars and supplies.
Classes are as follows:
August 14th -9am to 12 will be a canning/jelly making class. The canning part will be modified because of lack of veggies in my gardern. But we will show the process and do some items in the waterbath method.We will follow with jelly making.

Also mark your calendars. I will be closed July 3rd and 5th.Please plan accordingly over the holiday, if you plan to brew.

Greetings Customers;
I hope you have planned out your gardens and planted a fruit tree for EARTH DAY. This year looks to be the best we have had for fruit bearing trees in 3 years.I will finally get crabapples this year.I see the apricots have survived for the first time in a long while. It's a canning year for sure! Apricot jam is the best ever. If you have never canned apricots before, then now is the time to learn. If you have a dehydrator, they also make a wonderful dried fruit.
If you have been going out and buying a glass of beer or wine lately, I think you will agree,it is cheaper to make your own. It is so much more fun and rewarding too.If you have been thinking about it, then stop on in and we will get you started.
Mark your calendars for June 4th at 6:30pm. Any one who has made wine from a kit, we will have a another wine tasting and trading that night here at Riley Ridge. Bring a snack to share and several bottles to trade with other people. We will highlight a white and a red wine for the next meeting to learn more about what to serve them with and how to serve them.All the kits so far have been wonderful, and there is still plenty of time to make one for this event.We have a lot of kits here to try. They take 6 weeks to complete, so come on in and get started.

Greetings Customers!
It's official,Spring has finally shown up!. Ahh smell the aroma of grains steeping in the lauter tun. The wonderful smell of wort cooking in the pot and the fragrance of hops in the air. Yes this is a sure sign of spring. If you can't smell these wonderful aromas, then you need to do something about that. Come on down for a visit, and we can fix you right up with a recipe.
Now about that wine kit tasting night. I have tried to call everyone I know who bought a kit in the last few months, but I may have missed a few people.Sorry for the late notice if I missed you. March 12th at 7:30, (Yes this Friday) there will be a wine tasting of the homemade kits that you all have made. If you have 4 or 5 bottles left, and want to participate, then please call me and I will give you details. This is an opportunity to try the different kits and to trade bottles with other people. This will only be open to the kit makers at this time. We hope this will evolve into something bigger at a later time.
I'm excited to bring you all new products! I am now going to carry spices, sausage mixes, marinades, beef rubs, and so much more. I even have the ever popular and hard to find, vanilla bean. It will take a little while to get everything here, but I have some in stock already. I will have supplies for the deer hunters, game hunters and meat processors. If you like to cook then you need to check out the new products. Even if you don't, then these products will help you be a better cook.
This spring we will do work to the shop and make it bigger so shopping can be even easier. I'll be gearing up for canning season too with more new products to make gardening more fun. We want to get the most out of our gardens we can.
Greetings Customers;
Perhaps I jumped the gun on the Spring thing. Just wanted to let you know that I will be forced to close the shop on Tuesday Feb. 16th at 12 noon. I had someone coming to run the shop part of the day, but of course Mother Nature has snowed us all in. If you need something urgent, I will be here Wednesday til 2pm. I will be glad to help you. With that being said, I hope you have 4-wheel drive or front wheel. The roads are slick and even though we have been out with tractors and shovels, it is still not great.
We still plan to have the beer class on Saturday, unless we get another 6 inches. Call before to check on our roads. Your safety is important to us.Also remember Feb. 23rd I will be here til 12 noon but will close the shop the rest of the day. Thanks for your understanding.
Be Safe;

Greetings Customers;
I know it's hard to believe, but I am sure that Spring will be in the air soon. I am already planning my garden for this year. That helps to keep me sane. I always think I can have the biggest garden in the world, then reality sets in of how much time and work it takes. So I down scale my thoughts a little. Boy I am ready to play in the dirt!
Well mark your calenders! There will be a Beer making class Feb. 20th from 10am to noon, and a wine making class Feb. 27th from 10am to noon. $5.00 will cover materials, drinks and snacks. We will make the beer from a kit that all can do in the kitchen. We will make Pear wine from fruit.
I will be close an additional day,Feb.23rd due to eye surgery. I do want to be able to SEE you all better.I hope this will not pose a problem. Other days my brother will help. If you have not met him, he is a deaf mute, so be ready to write. He can help you just fine, but always feel free to call me.I know the shop like the back of my hand.
We also want to alert the Wine Kit customers that you all have been invited to share a taste of your kit wines with each other. I have a customer that will open his house for all to bring several bottles to share with everyone. This is a good way to try the different kits, and see which one you might want to do next. We plan to do this in March, and more info will follow soon. Save a few bottles from the wines you are making, and mabe even trade with others for a different wine. I hope in the future this will open the way for a wine club for all possibilities. You have plenty of time to make a new kit if you want to, so that we have more to share and enjoy.
Greetings Customers;
There are still hops left, although some are out for now. Take advantage of the buy one get one free sale and also 5% off total sale for December. 2 weeks left to stock up. I have some new items from Norpro. I will list them on the site.
I also going to be closed December 25th and 26th so please make note of it. We will be open December 28th to give you another chance at the sale. I will be closed New Years day.
Have a safe and happy season, and enjoy the things you have and don't fret over the things you can't afford. The priceless things are free, so hold them dear to your heart. Help somone in need, because there are so many. Give your change out of your pocket to those who shiver in the cold. You never know when it will come back to you. We have had to tighten our belts alot this year, but I am helping in a mission for the homeless in our area. It is so sad to see so many. I may not have much to give, but they have less. So when you are snuggled up in your warm house with your family,please give thanks. Say a prayer for those who are living on the streets. God is great, but sometimes it's our turn to help.
God Bless all of you this Season,
Becky Riley
Greetings Customers;
It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is almost here. I think Spring is confused. I know I sure am. I am pretty sure I can mow my grass til December if the weather holds out. I wanted to give you all a jump on the holidays and offer a sale.
For the month of November and December there will be a 5% off total sales. The more you spend the more you save.
I also paln to get more spices and season mixes in the shop soon. This will be great for hunters and for those who still butcher their own meats.We still carry on that tradition in our family, and are always needing spices for the sausage we create. It will also add to spicing up your holiday dinners. As soon as I recieve them in the shop I will let everyone know.
There was a notice that hop prices will be going down soon. So for the month of December I will offer all hops buy one get one free of same or lesser value. This will help me clean out the hop supply for the year, and get ready for the new ones that will be offered.This will only apply to whats in the shop, and not special orders. So come get them soon as December hits. A stocking full of hops would be appreciated by all beer makers.
I will post a new blog soon and would like for all those who have taken my classes on wine making to please read it. It will be about racking wines and finishing them.There are new products available, and also a correction to some information I gave you in the class. Please read and make adjustments to how you handle your wines.There are always new ideas and ways to make wines. I learn something new every year I am open, and there are a lot of right ways to do the process.
Greetings to everyone,
I forgot to mention that all beer kits on the October Brew-in will be 10% off. I will order several before hand, so if there is a special one you have wanted to try, then call me to order it. I will order the 2nd week of October and I will be glad to order what you want. It will be held for October 17th for you to pick up. Please plan to pick it up that day for the savings.
Thank You,
Becky Riley
What a wonderful time of year. It’s a great time for brewing your favorite beer and to make some fall wines. Pumpkin wine is a great wine to make. I am making it for the 2nd year in a row. The recipe is labor intensive, but well worth it. I will include it on the blog soon.
Get ready for our 3rd annual Brew-in. Mark your calendars for October 17th. We will start at 10am with a Beer kit class that should last until 12. We will have several all grain brewers set up out at the barn with different methods and techniques to brew beer. Come visit and meet these folks. A lot of them will be Fossil members, which are a beer appreciation group that meets 1 time a month. You can join on this day if you would like. There will be food in the barn. Help yourself, we just ask that maybe you would put a donation in the jar. This day is our fall open house and we hope to see you here, even if you don't drink beer, it will just be a fun day.
I have a lot of new items on the site so be sure and check them out. Sorry about the site lately, I accidently removed most of the items so I had to put them back. Some days it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed! I hope it has everything now. We have new wine kits that you can make all year round that have wonderful flavor. We also have a new hard cranberry lemonade kit and an apple cider kit. Speaking of apples, there is someone you need to know if you want fresh cider or juice to make wine, and that is Bob Capshew. His email is rcapshew@insightbb.com. Shot him an email if you need more information and to receive his “ Incider” newsletter.
